This 90 minute presentation is an overview of internet safety, specifically, as it impacts K-12 students, their parents, and school districts – including: psychosocial/neurological impacts, parental complicity, cyberbullying, sexting, sexual predators, gaming, and popular apps. Find out if your district is breaking federal CIPA laws when promoting your schools and students on social media. (NOTE: Most schools are out of compliance.)
Speaker Bio
Jesse Weinberger is a former software programmer, a nationally recognized Internet Safety speaker, TEDx Presenter, the host of : Big Mama’s House Podcast and she is the author of The Boogeyman Exists: And He’s in Your Child’s Back Pocket, 2nd Ed.For fifteen years, Jesse has been presenting to parents, students, teachers, and school districts all over the United States. As a respected expert and leader in this field, she is frequently sought out by local and national media, educators, administrators, and law enforcement for guidance on how to manage and improve the digital lives of children. Jesse has been interviewed by The New York Times, The Washington Post, and many nationally syndicated network shows including The Today Show.In addition to completing over 150 presentations each year and working on the podcast, Jesse is currently working on the third-edition of The Boogeyman Exists, as well as a middle-grade novel.
