5223 - RELEASED TIME FOR RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION

Upon application by the parents or guardian of the student, a student may be released from school attendance for released-time religious instruction, not to exceed two (2) hours per week.

Discretion as to the time of the day or the day of the week that this release can be exercised for the individual student shall remain with the school authorities so that any interruption of regular school work is at a minimum.

All religious instruction shall be held off public school premises and at no cost to the St. Henry Schools.

This released-time program shall follow the intent of the Zorach vs. Clauson case as determined by the United States Supreme Court.

Through the written request of a parent or guardian, students may be excused from class to attend religious services.
