3212 - SCHOOL REPRESENTATION – STUDENT DEATH
When a student death occurs within the student membership of a building, the principal of that building shall appoint a faculty group not to exceed three (3) faculty persons to be the official school representatives at the funeral service of that student. Volunteers for this function are to notify the principal of their willingness to serve as soon as possible after the announcement of the service. A faculty member may decline the appointment.
If other persons than the official representatives decide of their own volition to attend a student funeral service, their absence shall involve the use of sick leave or personal leave if applicable and requested.
In unusual circumstances, such as multiple deaths or a total exodus of students to attend a funeral service, the local Superintendent may modify the policy to reflect the situation.
