8760 - STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE
The Board of Education recognizes that students may suffer injuries in the course of attendance at school and participation in the athletic and extra-curricular programs of the schools. Accordingly, the Board will make available to parents insurance coverage for such contingencies.
The Board will provide parents the opportunity to purchase student accident insurance coverage at no cost to the Board.
Participation shall be voluntary.
The Superintendent shall recommend suitable and qualified insurance carriers for Board consideration and notify all parents of District students of the availability of group insurance.
The Board requires that students participating in interscholastic school athletics be covered by some type of accident insurance. The insurance may be the accident policy which has been approved by the Board or a similar policy type acquired elsewhere by the student or his/her parents. If the latter choice is made a statement by the parent that said student is a beneficiary of insurance adequate to cover the expenses of all injuries said student may incur while participating in interscholastic school athletics.
