The Board of Education believes that it is beneficial to the District that personnel be granted sick and extended leave for pregnancy.

The Board shall provide for leaves of absence, in accordance with law and the policies of this Board, for any employee of this District not otherwise covered by the terms of a negotiated agreement whose absence from duties will be required for a foreseeable event of disability such as childbirth or surgery. Such provisions shall be governed by considerations for the health of employees, the need for continuity in classroom instruction and school operations, and the maintenance of a qualified District staff.
