1230 - SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
The Superintendent of Schools shall strive to achieve District goals for students by providing educational direction and supervision to the professional staff and supervision to the nonteaching staff and by acting as a proper model for staff and students both in the school and outside the district.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In order to achieve the function of his/her position, the Superintendent shall:
| A. | keep the Board informed on issues and needs for the operation of the school; | ||
| B. | interprets and executes Board policy; | ||
| C. | provides professional advice to the Board on issues requiring Board action with appropriate recommendations; | ||
| D. | search and secure personnel for employment when needed; | ||
| E. | make employment recommendations to the Board; | ||
| F. | act as liaison and spokesperson for the Board with the various agencies, organizations and staff; | ||
| G. | assigns staff in terms of competencies and negotiated agreements; | ||
| H. | evaluates other administrators; | ||
| I. | completes and submits all reports required of the Superintendent for the District; | ||
| J. | attends all Board meetings except for extenuating circumstances; | ||
| K. | supervises the proper care and maintenance for buildings, grounds, motor vehicles, furniture, and all other school properties, within the limits set by the District budget; | ||
| L. | assist the District's treasurer in the preparation of the annual appropriation budget that will be submitted to the Board for its approval; | ||
| M. | maintain records required of the Superintendent; | ||
| N. | perform other job related tasks as required by the Board. |
