8800C - THE FLAG AND PATRIOTIC CEREMONIES

The following guidelines are to be followed when dealing with the flag or patriotic ceremonies:

	A.	The United States flag shall be displayed over, near or in schoolhouses when school is in session.
	B.	Oral recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance shall be a part of the school program and the Superintendent shall establish the time and manner for such recitation.
	C.	No teacher shall be prohibited from providing in his/her classroom reasonable periods of time for programs or meditation on a moral, philosophical or patriotic theme.
	D.	No student shall be required to participate in any of the activities described above if such activities are contrary to the religious convictions of the student or the student's parent(s) or guardian(s).
