5130 - WITHDRAWAL FROM SCHOOL
The Board of Education desires that every student complete the educational program which best suits his/her needs. Should a student of eighteen (18) years or older indicate a desire to withdraw, the staff should try to determine the underlying reason and take whatever means are available within the system to assist the student.
No student under the age of eighteen (18) will be permitted to withdraw from school without the written consent of the County Superintendent.
A student who is withdrawing from school for any reason must do the following:
| A. | consult the principal or others s/he may designate, for a withdrawal slip to be taken home for the signature of parent(s) or guardian(s). | ||
| B. | confer with principal or counselor about reason(s) for withdrawal. | ||
| C. | if s/he is withdrawing from school permanently (dropouts), shall be given an exit interview by the guidance counselor at which time s/he will be informed of the following: |
| 1. | the desirability of continuing education at some later time in order to get a high school diploma, | |||
| 2. | the service offered by the Ohio Employment Service, | |||
| 3. | the opportunities afforded by the G.E.D. tests for an equivalency certificate, | |||
| 4. | the educational opportunities available through the USAFI for those who elect to go into the Armed Forces, | |||
| 5. | the fact that the high school counseling services are available to them even though they have left school. |
| D. | return all books, uniforms, and other school property to the proper teachers, who shall initial the slip when all obligations are met. | ||
| E. | clear lockers with gym and homeroom teachers or guidance department. | ||
| F. | clear any obligations in the library. | ||
| G. | return withdrawal slip, properly initialed, to the guidance office or his/her guidance counselor. |
