4220 - EVALUATION OF CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES

Evaluations of the classified employees shall include the specific performance objectives as stated in Board adopted position descriptions for that job.

Evaluations to be done a minimum of once annually.

Evaluations will insure that:

 A.all entries are based on observable and/or verifiable facts.

 B.all notes taken of a classified employee's strengths as well as weaknesses.

 C.all entries will be as objective as possible.

 D.all recording systems used will be the same for all employees in similar situations.

 E.all materials will be kept confidential.

 F.all classified employees have an opportunity to append a written statement to his/her evaluation.

 G.all employees will sign his/her evaluation acknowledging having read and understood the evaluation.

The purpose of evaluations is to promote improved job performance and services to students.

To assist the employee to improve his/her job performance the following strategies may be used:

 A.offering resource aid.

 B.recommending how improvement can be effected.

 C.modifying objectives.

 D.scheduling follow-up conferences to assess change.

Said strategies should have the following characteristics:

 A.be clear and unambiguous in intent and understandable in language.

 B.establish reasonable standards under all circumstances.

 C.apply in a consistent and uniform manner to all employees in the same class.

 D.be available to classified employees for review before they are applied.
