3140 - RESIGNATION

As a professional, the teacher shall recognize the obligation to faithfully fulfill the terms of his/her contract until it is dissolved by mutual consent or by due process of law.

The nontenured teacher shall have the right to resign for good reasons by submitting a written request by July 10th. After which time, resignations may be accepted by the Board of Education.

The Superintendent and the Board may recognize an obligation to release a teacher from the terms of a contract when an opportunity is offered for significant professional advancement.

A teacher intending to resign shall submit a written resignation to the Superintendent for conveyance to the Board as far as possible in advance of the effective date of resignation.

The Superintendent or his/her designee shall, whenever possible, conduct a post-resignation interview with each candidate to determine the teacher's reasons leading up to the point of resignation.
