2610 - EVALUATION OF STAFF/PROGRAM

 A.Outcome
Conclusions which meet the following criteria:

1.indicate those characteristics of a product and/or performance that meet or exceed described standards.

2.indicate those characteristics that fall below such standards.

  3.are clear, accurate, and complete.

4.indicate priorities for closing important gaps.

5.indicate the value or worth of a product and/or performance.

 B.Rationale
In order to adequately fulfill a responsibility or achieve a desired outcome, a leader needs to be able to monitor a given situation in such a way that s/he has appropriate data about the current status on which to base decisions and actions. Well-supported opinions and recommendations are needed for others who rely upon him/her for decisions and actions they need to take. If the assessment is inadequate (for one of several reasons), it could lead to inappropriate actions and ultimately to lack of accomplishment of goals and responsibilities.

C.Sequence of Tasks in the Strategy

1.Clarify the situation to be evaluated.

2.Describe the Product and/or Performance as it should be.

3.Determine the Procedures for Gathering Needed Information about Current Product and/or Performance.

  4.Gather the data.

5.Verify the accuracy and sufficiency of the data.

6.Compare the data with the standards to determine gaps.

7.Determine relative significance of the gaps (deficiencies).

8.Judge the value or worth of a given product and/or performance.
