2415 - TUTORING FOR CREDIT
Tutoring for credit toward graduation must meet the following guidelines and/or State requirements:
| A. | The parents or legal guardians of a student requesting tutoring for credit must first confer with the guidance counselor and submit a letter of application to the principal for final approval. | ||
| B. | A copy of the approved letters of application for tutoring will be kept on file in the guidance office. A current list of students being tutored shall be maintained by the guidance counselors. | ||
| C. | The approval of a tutoring assignment will only be granted to a teacher properly licensed. | ||
| D. | The tutoring instructor is expected to file, with the building principal a progress report each six (6) weeks or midway through the planned tutorial program. | ||
| E. | The maximum amount of credit which can count toward graduation will be determined by the principal up to a maximum of six (6) units. | ||
| F. | For every half (1/2) unit of credit earned, the student being tutored is required to complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of direct instruction and an additional forty (40) hours of related course work assigned by the tutor. | ||
| G. | The fees for tutoring will be charged on a per hour basis. Parents or guardians are responsible for payment of fees. | ||
| H. | Credit toward graduation will be granted upon the successful completion of the course only after the tutor has filed a final report with the principal indicating the quality and quantity of work. A copy of the final report will become a part of the student's permanent record. |
