0142.3 - ORIENTATION OF BOARD MEMBER

The Board and its staff shall assist each new member to understand the Board's functions, policies, and procedures prior to taking office.

	A.	Each new Board member shall be invited to meet with the President and the Treasurer and Superintendent in groups and/or individually to discuss pertinent material and information.
	B.	Each newly elected member shall be provided with the same materials sent to incumbent members.
	C.	Newly elected members shall also be invited to sit at all regular, special, and executive sessions which occur between the time of their election and the effective date of taking office.
	D.	Each new Board member shall be encouraged to attend orientation workshops conducted by the Ohio School Boards Association.
	E.	Each new member shall be provided with appropriate orientation materials at or prior to the first regular meeting in which s/he sits as a member including copies of the policy manual and a set of regulations, Board minutes for the preceding year made available, a current budget statement, negotiated agreements, and publications of the Ohio School Boards Association.
