3242 - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LICENSURE

The Board of Education directs the Superintendent to establish a Local Professional Development Committee that is in compliance with State law and applicable terms of the negotiated agreement with the Mt. Healthy Teacher's Association.

The Committee shall consist of no less than three (3) members of the Mt. Healthy Teachers' Association and no less than two (2) District Administrators.

The Superintendent shall be responsible for establishing the guidelines by which the Committee is to function. Among these guidelines should be:

 A.a set of bylaws governing when the Committee will meet and where, (with the stipulation that all meetings shall take place outside normal student instructional hours at the convenience of committee members);

 B.how the Committee will select and replace members (except that the MHTA will designate replacement members in the case of vacancies among teacher members);

 C.the manner in which voting will occur;

 D.the procedure the Committee will use to hear appeals to its decisions.

All local Professional Development Committee meetings are subject to the Sunshine Law.

The Superintendent shall report periodically to the Board on the operation of this important committee and on the progress staff members are making in fulfilling their professional development plans.
