2133 - DISTRICT GOALS
We believe schools are learning communities that exist for the purpose of student learning. Therefore, the following District goals have been designed to promote the growth and development of our student and adult learners.
STUDENT PERFORMANCE AND ACHIEVEMENT
| A. | Provide a curriculum that is aligned with State and Federal standards and is implemented through research-based teaching and learning techniques. | ||
| B. | Challenge students with an ambitious and rigorous course of study while providing them with the tools, resources and instruction needed for success. | ||
| C. | Attain measurable increases in student academic performance through dedicated teachers and effective teaching strategies and techniques. | ||
| D. | Continually improve the quality of our teachers, administrators and support staff through hiring practices, assessments, self-evaluations, and a rigorous professional development program that is aligned with District goals. | ||
| E. | Continually seek out through a variety of assessment tools, vital information that will improve District programs and services. | ||
| F. | Provide a safe, healthy and intellectually stimulating learning environment where all students are respected, have a positive relationship with District staff and are engaged in learning. |
ADMINISTRATIVE AND FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP
| A. | Provide direction and guidance to the District while fully and responsibly utilizing all resources to improve education for our students. | ||
| B. | Maintain an environment in which all employees continually seek to improve the experiences and achievements of our students. | ||
| C. | Maintain a District fund balance for unexpected expenses in an amount not less than one (1) month of the current year's annual budget. | ||
| D. | Explore an educational foundation for DeWitt Public Schools. | ||
| E. | Maintain current facilities and plan for adequate facilities for future enrollment and spacing requirements. | ||
| F. | Educate various stakeholders about the District's fiscal realities and their implications while efficiently managing all current resources and innovatively seeking new ones. |
COMMUNICATION, COLLABORATION AND RECOGNITION
| A. | Strengthen the image of DeWitt Public Schools through formal and informal communication that is proactive, open, honest, trustworthy and responsive. | ||
| B. | Encourage two-way collaboration through traditional and innovative channels. | ||
| C. | Build collaborative partnerships with District staff, senior citizens, civic and service groups and other community members. | ||
| D. | Promote, encourage and celebrate critical thinking, respect for differences and foster changing relationships. | ||
| E. | Recognize, celebrate and building upon the traditions and successes of our District and our community. | ||
| F. | Recognize our students for their academic, athletic and artistic contributions. |
TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION AND INTEGRATION
| A. | Prepare students and staff to utilize current technologies based on best practices for student learning as reasonably as possible within budgetary considerations. | ||
| B. | Commit appropriate financial resources on an annual basis to keep current with technology infrastructure, equipment and software. | ||
| C. | Focus on the integration of technology into all classroom instruction and student work. | ||
| D. | Provide motivating technology experiences that link students to the world beyond their classrooms and community. | ||
| E. | Continue to explore new developments in technology. | ||
| F. | Use District technology to increase productivity. |
